Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my phone can run StudyCell?
To run StudyCell, you need a Java-enabled phone. Most phone models on the market now are Java-enabled. If you have an older phone you want to check, your wireless provider or cell phone manufacturer should have a list on their Web site of Java-enabled phones. If your phone is not Java-enabled, you can contact your wireless carrier to upgrade.
How do I know if my phone can download StudyCell?
Your wireless account must include Internet access to download StudyCell. If you do not have Web service, contact your wireless provider to add the service.
What if my phone is Java- and Web-enabled and I still can't download?
Some wireless carriers, like Verizon, only support a limited choice of applications. If this is the case with your carrier, contact your carrier and ask how you can access providers who are not on their list.

Some older phone have a download file size limit. StudyCell applications can be up to 64K in size, please check to see if the jar size that your phone supports is limited.
Does it cost money or airtime to download StudyCell?
Most wireless carriers bill in increments of kilobytes (KB) for data usage, not minutes. This means that you are only billed for the data you send or receive through the network. See your wireless carrier's terms and conditions for how data sessions are billed in your plan.
Where do I find StudyCell on my phone after downloading it?
Each phone stores StudyCell differently. Most phones will store StudyCell in your Applications folder. Sometimes StudyCell is in the Games or Downloads folder. You can get to these folders through the Main menu on your phone.
Can I make a phone call while using StudyCell?
No. You will have to quit StudyCell before making a call.
Can I receive an incoming call while using StudyCell?
Yes. StudyCell will pause and let you answer the call. You can continue StudyCell after your call is over. If you're downloading StudyCell, the incoming call will go to voicemail.
Why are some cards hidden?
StudyCell is designed to be adaptive. In multiple choice mode, it automatically "hides" the cards you answer correctly; this enables you to focus on learning what you don't know. When you get almost all the cards correct, the deck is reset and the next time you open it, all the cards will be displayed. Flip card mode works in the same fashion, but you have to tell the application that you are "done" with the card by selecting "yes" to the question "Are you done with this card for now?".
How do I make my own mobile flashcards with StudyCell?
You can make your own card decks by creating an account at www.studycell.com. Once your account is created it will prompt you to create a new flashcard deck. Once your deck is created, you can enter questions and answers for each card; you must create at least five cards for each new deck. When you are done creating cards, use your cell phone's Web browser and go to get.studycell.com. Download and open the "Make Your Own" client and enter your StudyCell.com user name and password. Once you are logged in, select "Get Your Cards" from the main menu and download the deck you just created. Then, select "Choose Flashcard Deck" to run your custom study cards. (Note: Depending on your phone and its reception, logging into get.studycell.com or downloading the client may take a while.)
Can I change the applications stored on my phone?
Yes. You can add or remove applications stored on your phone. You are limited only by the storage space on your phone.
